On the rise: Another victim speaks out after alleged Billings contractor scam
BILLINGS — A Billings homeowner is speaking out after saying she was scammed by a landscaping contractor who took her money and disappeared, leaving promised work unfinished. The case highlights a growing problem of contractor fraud across Montana.
Roberta Cooley moved into her Billings home in 2021 and wanted to care for the mature trees on her property, including removing dead branches.

The family of Cameron Collin is growing more desperate with every passing day. The 37-year-old Airdrie man has been missing since Oct. 4 after attending a bachelor party in Billings, Montana.

CALGARY—After several days of searching for her missing brother in Montana, Julia Collin has new data that marks the last activity on his cellphone at 10:22 p.m. on Oct. 4, but there’s no trace of him since.
Cam Collin, a 37-year-old from Airdrie, Alta., was at a bachelor party for the groom of his old college roommate in Billings, Mont., but the group of guys lost track of her brother when they returned from a strip club in the city to the rural property where the party started, Collin said.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana investigated over data breach
HELENA — The Montana State Auditor and Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Office has launched an investigation into Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) following a major data breach. According to the Auditor’s Office, the breach puts the personal and medical information of up to 462,000 Montana customers at risk.
BCBSMT is the largest health insurer in Montana.
BILLINGS — What began as a routine social media post quickly turned unsettling for a group of Billings women, raising concerns about online privacy and harassment.
Nearly a dozen women in a private Facebook group dedicated to sharing local driving incidents said they were targeted by a caller who obtained their personal information and made threatening phone calls.
The group, “Billings Reckless Drivers,” has nearly 40,000 members and serves as a place where users post photos and videos of unsafe driving. For Kaitlyn Love, one such post triggered a series of disturbing events.
Love said she uploaded dashcam footage showing a driver traveling the wrong way on Montana Avenue, a one-way street. Shortly afterward, she received an unexpected phone call.

His sister Julia Collins said they have now hired a private investigator in hopes of finding him.
The video covers a local Holiday Nights event at Zoo Montana that’s sparked debate after a Facebook post warned people about ticket issues. Organizers say some visitors tried to use tickets bought through a third-party website (bidonbillings.com), but the vouchers from that site weren’t valid in their official ticketing system, leading to people being denied entry. The third-party site’s representatives say that customers were supposed to bring the printed receipt to a radio station to exchange it for a real ticket, and that only a small number of people were affected. Q2 News (KTVQ)
Local investigators also caution about fake ticket scams, especially during the holiday season, urging buyers to use verified purchase channels and safe payment methods (like credit cards or PayPal) to protect themselves.
In April, a Billings 85-year-old woman began sending a scammer large sums of money after receiving suspicious emails that her PayPal account had fraudulent activity.
Over the course of several weeks, the woman ended up losing an estimated $130,000 in the alleged scam.
