Local investigators also caution about fake ticket scams, especially during the holiday season, urging buyers to use verified purchase channels and safe payment methods (like credit cards or PayPal) to protect themselves.

In April, a Billings 85-year-old woman began sending a scammer large sums of money after receiving suspicious emails that her PayPal account had fraudulent activity.

Over the course of several weeks, the woman ended up losing an estimated $130,000 in the alleged scam.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana investigated over data breach

HELENA — The Montana State Auditor and Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Office has launched an investigation into Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) following a major data breach. According to the Auditor’s Office, the breach puts the personal and medical information of up to 462,000 Montana customers at risk.

BCBSMT is the largest health insurer in Montana.
